Mike Benner joined SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, as its first managing director in 2014 after 10 years as the chief executive of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. Mike has led SIBA on its journey to become the voice of British brewing and deliver the future of British beer with an inclusive strategy based on promoting growth, excellence, and sustainability. SIBA’s campaign focus rests on building access for small brewers to a UK beer market dominated by global brewers. SIBA’s new Assured British Independent Craft Brewer initiative sets genuine independent brewers apart as craft beer moves into the mainstream market with much bigger breweries demanding a slice of the craft beer pie.
